Plan your football training camp early: Why booking in advance pays off

A successful football training camp starts long before the first session on the pitch. Teams that plan ahead benefit from a wider choice of destinations, better conditions and greater planning certainty.

This applies to both summer and winter training camps. However, early booking is particularly important for winter training camps, as many teams want to train in good climatic conditions within a relatively short period of time.

Popular destinations book up quickly

Whether you are planning a summer or winter training camp, our most popular destinations are in particularly high demand in the weeks leading up to the start of the season.

Booking early gives you a better chance of securing your preferred travel dates, hotel and training times. With short-notice planning, on the other hand, you may have to compromise on the destination, accommodation or the distance between the hotel and training facilities.

Plan flights well in advance

When travelling by plane, the timing of your booking is particularly important. For winter training camps, when teams often head south in search of milder conditions, we recommend checking and booking flights between mid-July and mid-September.

During this period, attractive fares and suitable direct connections are often still available. After that, prices can increase significantly.

The later you book, the greater the risk that suitable flights for the entire team will already be sold out. This can result in inconvenient flight times, stopovers or even having to split the group across different flights.

Save money with flexible return dates

For trips involving flights, it is also worth being flexible with your arrival and departure dates. There can be considerable savings.

Many teams automatically plan their return journey for Saturday or Sunday. However, weekend flights are often in higher demand and therefore more expensive. Depending on your training and match schedule, extending your training camp until Monday or Tuesday can be a worthwhile option.

Late bookings increase the risk

Planning at short notice is not only about higher prices. Flights, hotels and training facilities may already be fully booked. Arranging suitable friendly matches and transfers also becomes more difficult with limited preparation time.

Booking early provides greater planning certainty and allows the training camp to be tailored to your sporting requirements, squad size and available budget.

Plan early and secure the best conditions

For winter training camps, we recommend requesting your first offers in spring or early summer. If you are planning to travel by plane, suitable connections should ideally be checked between mid-July and mid-September at the latest.

Planning early does not mean that every detail has to be finalised immediately. The first step is to define the approximate travel period, squad size, budget and preferred mode of transport. Based on this information, suitable offers can be compared and important capacities reserved.

SOCCATOURS supports you in choosing the right destination and organising your hotel, training facilities, transfers and friendly matches. Plan your next football training camp early and secure the best available dates and training conditions.
